Hailing from the Crozon Peninsula, it seemed only natural to Romuald that his first photography book should pay tribute to the surfers of this magical place through a series of portraits.

But why "WANTED"?

Titled "WANTED," this book aims to debunk the outdated stereotype that has dogged surfing since the 1970s-namely, a community steeped in counterculture that loiters. on the beaches all day in boundless idleness. It is high time we stopped being in the crosshairs of certain snipers out of touch with reality. Today, surfing is present across all social classes; it has become multigenerational. Doctors, artists, teachers,, fishermen, or students: they all find themselves in the water, united by the same passion and an intimate connection with the ocean. Surfing has become a true sociall hub where differences fade away with the rhythm of the tides.

Yet, in recent years, access to certain beaches has been restricted, often out of ignorance of the diversity and deep local roots of surfers. It is as if the image of this sport remains frozen in outdated clichés, far removed from the reality of a multifaceted community, deeply integrated into the local landscape and respectful of its environment.

And we’re absolutely stoked that two valued members of our REBEL network – surfer Suzanne Moal and shaper Jean-Baptiste Marchand from MABÉ Surfboards – are featured in the book!
