THIS IS SKINHEAD - Documentary Photobook

This Is Skinhead is a documentary photobook by Cardiff-based photographer Tom Wilkins, exploring contemporary skinhead culture through identity, loyalty, brotherhood, music, style and belonging.

Photographed across Wales and the UK, the project began with Wilkins entering the culture as an outsider. Over time, it developed into a collaborative portrait of the people and communities he encountered, combining his documentary photography with contributed photographs, personal stories and memories from within the culture itself.

Rather than attempting to define what a skinhead is, This Is Skinhead looks beyond familiar imagery and stereotypes to explore the friendships, contradictions, histories and sense of belonging that exist within the culture today.

Featuring a foreword by Katie Owen, with contributions from photographer and Skins author Gavin Watson, musician Jenny Woo, Justin “Mooch” DeLoretto, and skinheads from Britain and around the world.
