Louis‘s Diary - Day 10-13

Day ten : 7-11-22
Total flatness, no waves. We decided to take the road to Edinburgh. We’re going to spend a few days there before Leo goes back to Poole to catch his ferry.
We took a mountain road to reach Inverness. A deserted road, lined with abandoned houses, lonely rivers and wandering sheep.
After 2 hours of driving, the phone rings.
- Hello Louis? Yeah, it's a mess.
Paco and Isis have just avoided dying on a country road. Their rear axle just gave out on them while they were driving at 90km/h.
Paco swerved to avoid an oncoming car and ended up on the side of the road. We arrived 5 hours after their accident and no one had come to pick them up yet.
It's 6pm and the four of us are waiting in the truck to protect ourselves from the rain for a mechanic, who was supposed to have arrived 2h30 ago.
The trip is over for them and I'm really sorry. Even with one less truck and ten thousand more problems to deal with (the dog, Paco's 9 boards, stuff etc...) they welcomed us on the side of the road with a big smile and good jokes.
Paco doesn't know where to stay when he gets back to France as he lives in his truck all year round.
In short, a sad end for them.

Day eleven : 8 -11-22
Returned to Edinburgh today. A day of walking and visiting museums, not forgetting a few beers and some good whisky.
Paco and Isis finally got their truck back on the road, they'll join us tomorrow for a big party. I'll take Leo back to Poole afterwards.

Day twelve: 9-11-22
I walked around for 6 hours in the beautiful city of Edinburgh.
Paco and Isis joined us for one last big party. We said a proper goodbye. It was also Leo's last night.

Day thirteen: 10-11-22
Well, we've arrived in Poole! Leo will take the ferry to France tomorrow morning. We won't be seeing each other for a long time!
Today we say goodbye to Scotland. I have only seen a small part of this country. It will leave me with a chilling memory because of its temperatures.
This place is really wild and deserted. Surfing here requires a lot of commitment. We didn’t have one chill session. It was all powerful, shallow reefs. The fact that we were surfing there alone added a big risk factor. I was glad to be in the water with Leo. Getting hurt in the water could be fatal without someone else there.

The locals were super friendly to us.
If you want to surf some serious waves and have a good time at a bar in the evening (knowing how to play pool well is crucial), Scotland might be for you. Good equipment, a car and a lot of motivation are mandatory.
Next I will spend a week in Cornwall.
Great waves are expected this weekend in Plymouth. I'll be there!
