FOTOMAGAZIN
A magazine printed on the finest paper and opened almost half a meter wide. Made with a lot of passion and dedication. For all surf, outdoor, photography, and travel fans.
Issue 46 is ready for you:
Ed West
The British photographer Ed West lives and works on the Gold Coast in Australia. From Burleigh Heads, he photographs surf, travel, and lifestyle for international magazines and brands. In the interview, he shares how he got into photography, why he now works almost exclusively from the water, and why proximity to the action is crucial for his images. By the way, the cover of this issue is also by him.
The Pizza Connection
Janina and Matze quit their jobs, now live in a self-converted VW T4, and travel through Europe and North Africa with a pizza oven in their trailer. On the road, they bake pizza for people they meet, surf whenever the waves allow, and tell honest stories about life on the road. A conversation about freedom, doubts, surf sessions, and encounters around a pizza oven.
70° North
In winter, hundreds of orcas, fin whales, and humpback whales gather off the coast of northern Norway each year to follow the large schools of herring. For a week, our author accompanies an expedition into the fjords around Skjervøy and experiences underwater encounters that have fascinated her since childhood. A story about cold, patience, and the rare moment when you come face to face with an orca family in the open ocean.
A Mediterranean Winter
While gray winter dominates in the north, Sardinia shows a completely different side in the cold season. Photographer Moritz Reulein travels across the island in a camper, always searching for waves, quiet bays, and the special light of winter. A story about empty beaches, changing winds, and the slow journey between surf spots, small coastal towns, and vast landscapes.
The Islands Beneath Us
The Maldives are known for turquoise lagoons, small islands, and resorts in the middle of the Indian Ocean. However, on a trip to three different island resorts, it quickly becomes clear that behind this postcard image lies a complex reality. Between coral research, island ecology, and sustainable tourism, it becomes evident how much effort is necessary to preserve this fragile island world for the future.
Notes From The Lake
Between Fürstenberg on the Havel and the Müritz lies one of the largest contiguous water sports areas in Europe. For a few days, we trade airplanes and long-distance travel for a houseboat and explore the region at our own pace. A journey through lakes, locks, and small towns, where it quickly becomes clear how much adventure sometimes lies right at your doorstep.
On the road with… Mickael Vandermaesen
For this photo portfolio, we accompany photographer Mickael Vandermaesen on a visual journey. With his Minolta X700 and a fondness for old cars, motorcycles, and wide landscapes, he creates images that are strongly influenced by road trips, freedom, and the American West. A collection of personal snapshots between asphalt, film camera, and the feeling of being on the move.
Tim Elter
The German surfer Tim Elter is one of the most exciting up-and-coming talents in European surfing. For this issue, he gives us an insight into his current life between competitions, travel, and training.
Shogo Ota
The Japanese artist Shogo Ota combines illustration, graphics, and large-scale murals into a calm, clear visual language. In our conversation, he shares how his work has evolved from small local projects to international collaborations with brands like Starbucks and BUFF, and what continues to drive him to implement new ideas.
