Emocean is a surf-centric magazine that champions diverse perspectives, radical creativity, relatability and empowerment, and especially the narratives of women, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ surfers.

This magazine is for those in search of an alternative reality. These are pages in wich to feel seen and understood if you have struggled to identify with the dominant cis white patriarchal viewpoint that surfing has been defined by since its western-world rise to popularity. No shade to he genuinely wonderful cis white men out there, we want you to be stoked on reading this too. It's just long been time for a different take on things.

The third issue "Connection" is available in three different covers:

Selema Masakela (image 1)
Selema Masakela by Gabriella Angotti-Jones.
Elizabeth Sine profiles Selema Masekela in the piece “Yeah, I Lived That”. Selema speaks about the connection between breakdancing and surfing through his formative experiences growing up on both the East and West Coasts, and visiting Sydney while accompanying his father Hugh Masekela on the Australian leg of Paul Simon's Graceland tou

Rachel Lord (image 2)
Rachel Lord by Brie Lakin.
Brie Lakin shoots Ventura County’s finest in ‘Lot Lizards'. Rachel poses here with her self-shaped 9’2 Fast Pitch log. With some cameo appearances from beloved pets, and the shoot ending in a full moon-lit surf session, this was one of our favorite editorials yet

Holly Hawn (image 3)
Holly Hawn by Soraya Simi.
Soraya Simi profiles Holly Wawn in “Inner Peace, Outer Power”. Holly speaks about carving her own path through seeing an opportunity to pursue freesurfing, “hanging out [and] doing what the boys get to do,” and getting clear on who she is as a surfer and a person.
