Yves Viala

Some people are just made for surfing – and Yves Viala is definitely one of them. He has not yet finished school, but he's already spent more time in the water than most of us do in a lifetime. And he’s only just getting started! That’s why we’re beyond stoked to welcome Yves as the newest member of our ambassador crew!

Yves is based in Munich – more specifically, in Sendling, right in the sweet spot between Floßlände, the Eisbach, and the E2. Basically, he lives in the heart of the Bavarian river surfing scene and has been taking full advantage of it. He first stepped on a board at just seven years old, and by nine he was already riding the Eisbach. Since then, surfing has been a part of his life – though it really exploded in the last year.

Like many teenagers, Yves went through a phase where other things (like friends and just being a kid) took priority. But once he picked up his board again on his own terms, something clicked. Suddenly he was surfing six-hour sessions, spending every spare minute in the water. On top of that? Gravel biking, skating, snowboarding, photography – Yves has energy for days and a creative streak to match.

Ask him what fascinates him about surfing, and he’ll tell you "it’s hard to explain – it’s just that feeling of freedom when he’s on the wave, where everything else fades away". After a long day of school, surfing is his way of hitting reset – no pressure, just pure stoke.

So far, Yves has only surfed ocean waves during vacations, mostly in France. But once he finishes school next year, his dream is "to combine travelling with surfing and explore the world. That's definitely how I imagine it". 

And here’s the best part: His father says, "beyond being an absolute ripper, Yves is just a great human. He’s got a big heart, a strong sense of fairness, and is all about good vibes and good friends". He’s often out with familiar faces like Yannik and Ina, and chances are, if you surf in Munich, you’ve either met him or seen him carving it up with his signature style and constant smile.

Next up? Competitions! Yves recently signed up for the German Championship in Freiburg, and we’re backing him all the way. But whether it’s a contest or a chill day at the river, one thing’s for sure – Yves surfs with passion.
