Yanik Mallwitz
At the age of 20, Yanik is not only a civil engineering student at TUM, but also one of Munich’s most promising surfing talents. He’s been on a board since 2020 – starting out at the Flosslände in Thalkirchen, where he rode his first waves. But Yanik didn’t stay a beginner for long: after just two years, he was already out on the Eisbach, and today he’s at home on all sorts of waves – from the Flosslände to the Rheinriff and the Riverwave. His favourite trick? The backside shovit – a move that perfectly suits his wild yet precise style.
But surfing isn’t his only passion: Yanik loves Munich’s outdoor life to the full. Whether it’s skiing or snowboarding in winter, cycling trips into the beautiful surrounding countryside or simply hanging out with friends – the main thing is to keep moving, and not to do it alone. And when he’s not on his board, he can be found rafting on the Isar as a hobby or teaching others how to surf at the Jochen Schweizer Arena as a surf instructor. Waves and water are his be-all and end-all.
