Moroccan born Mounim grew up a short walk from the ocean, in Essaouira. Borrowing equipment from local kite schools he began learning to kitesurf, and immediately fell in love with the waves, even skipping school to score perfect conditions.
Through his work he’s travelled the world, teaching kitesurfing in Zanzibar, Vietnam and the Netherlands. When Mounim isn’t teaching, he’s competing professionally. 2021 saw Mounim taking part in the GKA Kitesurf World Tour in Denmark, Germany and Morocco, and this year he’ll compete in his now-home country of Switzerland.
Mounim loves to keep active. He said, “I have spent most of my life in or next to the water. When in Switzerland and not able to surf or kite in the ocean, I train in the gym or go snowboarding in the mountains. In summer I also like to SUP in the lake next to my home in or go hiking.”
Being currently 16th on the world ranking list and with plans to compete in Mauritius and Brazil, we’re excited to see where the road takes us with Mounim, and to work together to create high quality, recycled kitesurfing fins.
