Introducing Joao, a Portuguese longboarder with a strong family connection to the ocean. When he was little, his seafaring uncle introduced him to surfing, where he quickly became obsessed with the sport. At the age of 16 he scored the title of National Champion in the Open Longboard under 18’s event in Portugal. He’s gone on to win many more competitions, including landing in the top 25 at the WSL Longboard Tour and top 15 at the ISA World Surfing Games.
As well as competing, Joao is an avid sailer and seafarer, founded The Longboard Academy, one of the leading longboard schools in Europe, participates in regular beach cleans and has organised a fundraising event to help the victims of wildfires.
We are stoked to have Joao on the team and can’t wait to watch him succeed in the competition circuit.
