JEAN-BAPTISTE MARCHAND | MABÉ SURFBOARDS
We are stoked to be working with Jean-Baptiste Marchand, an experienced fin designer and up-and-coming surfboard shaper from Crozon, Brittany.
At Rebel Fin we are always looking to work with young creatives who excel in their field. We met JB on a surf trip in western France and were immediately taken with his experience and knowledge.
JB has extensive experience in CAD and the development of prototypes, as well as a doctorate in fluid mechanics, which makes him a perfect partner for Rebel Fin. Before turning to surfboards, JB studied the fluid mechanics of turbine blades on tidal power plants before later developing fins and foils for a number of different water sports companies. He puts all of his knowledge and experience into his shaping business MABÉ surfboards: classic shapes, beautifully finished and compatible with all fin set-ups.
We couldn't resist the opportunity to work together. Jean-Baptiste is developing our new Future Thrusters, a set of twin fins and the new 9.5" Nosereider single fin, whilst further projects are in the pipeline too. It's a partnership from start to finish - JB designs the fins and together we manufacture the injection moulds before production begins here in Hamburg.
Stay tuned for more details of how this collaboration unfolds…
